Larry Coleman and Mark Bevins

While stationed in the military in Germany in 1969, Larry became hooked on sidecar racing and at Nurburgring and Hockenheim further developed his racing skills. Returning to the United States in 1974, Larry raced in the "Marlboro Series" and finished in second place. He and his passenger Wendell Andrews became National Champions in 1976 and 1977. Larry rode a TZ750 Yamaha with passenger Mark Bevins beginning in 1978 and gained another National Championship the following year. This portrait shows Larry and Mark at Sears Point Raceway. In addition to closed course racing, Larry is very active in the search for speed at the Bonneville Salt Flats. He currently holds three records, with the fastest sidecar speed to date of 174mph. He also has the distinction of being on the crew of the world's fastest motorcycle, which was piloted by Chris Carr to 354mph in 2006.
