Eddie began his part-time racing career in 1916 on borrowed motorcycles and in 1925 began racing full-time. He won AMA National titles that year and again in 1927 while riding Harley-Davidsons. He designed and built his own motorcycle, the J-B Special (Jones-Brinck). While in Australia during the winter of 1926, Eddie won a number of races and set new speed records. He later built a Harley-Davidson 21.35ci (350cc) "Peashooter" motor that rivaled the larger engines of the time. He was killed in a 1927 track accident.
